Pokemon Tattoo: The complete guide you need to read!
Back in 1996 (nearly 30 years from now!) Pokemon was launched, and, in these three decades, it became one of the most important anime and fan elements in the world.
Because of this, I want to introduce you to this Pokemon World so you can choose the right tattoo for you.
And, on this guide, we are going only to show you some of the best Pokemon tattoos, in all the different tattoo styles and concepts.

Squirtle and One Piece Mixup
I want to have a great start in this guide, so here you can see a tattoo about Squirtle, one of the most iconic Pokemon in the saga, mixed up with the One Piece (another very famous anime) clothes.
And I think it’s beautiful.
This tattoo is made by Dan McWilliams, a fantastic tattoo artist based in Los Angeles with his own personal brand mixing realistic with anime style.
Pokemon in 8 bits Style
Another big and nice example of some Pokemon tattoos is this one.
You know, this is called 8 bit art and it’s a way to make illustrations (or tattoos) like the old video games machines, this one, is focused on the first GameBoy, for example.
We do love 8 bit art, and we do love the way this tattoo design mixes different gray tones for this finish.
The tattoo is done by 88World, a tattoo artist focused in 8 bit tattoo, based in Seoul, in South Korea, of course, and we do think you should follow him right now.
Charizard Tattoo Anime Style
Another mythical Pokemon from the entire saga is Charizard (the evolution of Charmander, you know), and here you can find it!
This is Charizard in Anime Style, the most common tattoo style for getting inked with a Pokemon, you know, and it is made by Zinke Tattoo, a fantastic tattoo artist owner of Bloody Joes Tattoo, near Madrid, in Spain.
Zinke is very focused in Illustration and Anime tattoo, and you can find some spectacular pieces of work in Japanese tattoo too, just go and follow him.
Mew Tattoo Anime Style
I introduce you to Mew, a very odd and powerful Pokemon from the 1st Generation.
Mew is a psychic Pokemon with a lot of powers, for example, it can transform to almost every other Pokemon (sometimes it can transform into two different Pokemon at the same time), nice one, isn’t it?
The tattoo is done by Mojo Tattoo, she is an awesome woman tattoo artist based in Genyth Tattoo Studio, in New York, and she is focused on illustration tattoo, botanical, and some realistic ones.

Complete Leg Sleeve Pokemon Tattoo
Impressive, isn’t it? For me too!
This is a complete leg sleeve Pokemon tattoo with a lot of the main characters in the Pokemon world, from Pikachu to Bulbasaur, all done in a very realistic style with a fantastic color palette.
We do love it!
The tattoo is done by Derek Turcotte, another stunning tattoo artist, this time based in Canada, with his own personal brand, mixing illustration, cartoon, anime and marvelous colors.
Ash Ketchum in Anime Style
Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in the original Japanese version, as the creator of the series) is the main Pokemon trainer in the anime and, just because of this, we think Ash should have his own space on this guide.
This time, you can see a very traditional anime tattoo in black and gray with some of the main Pokemon in the first season, like Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur.
This tattoo is done by Coco, a very, very nice woman tattoo artist based in Dixieme Art Tattoo, in Monaco, and she has a lot of different tattoos in illustration, botanical and realism style you should watch!
Karaoke Jigglypuff With A Lot Of Dotwork
Yes, this is Jigglypuff, one of my favourite Pokemon because the way it said its own name, it is the evolution of Igglybuff and its very best attack is to sing so the opponent falls asleep and, in this tattoo, Jigglypuff is singing in a karaoke!
Just fantastic.
This tattoo is done by Veronica (joronity in Instagram), she is based in Toronto, working at Cat Scratch Studio, and she has a very special tattoo style, like if you draw with crayons, just extraordinary!
Double Pikachu Tattoo!
Why are you going to get inked with a Pikachu if you can have two?
We do love this design, with a Pikachu in black and gray with a GameBoy and, on the other side, another colorful Pikachu with a Nintendo Switch one, very, very nice idea!
The tattoo is done by Lady Mermaid, a great woman tattoo artist, owner of Magical Ink Tattoo, in Italy, doing very well manga, anime and cartoon tattoo.
Mewtwo Pokemon Tattoo
And, just before on this guide I introduced you to Mew, here you can see Mewtwo, created by experimentation (it’s like an “artificial Pokemon”) with no evolution possible.
I do like this design because of the strength of the linework and the dotwork inside the body of Mewtwo, so I think it is a wonderful piece of work.
The tattoo itself is done by Black Jota, an outstanding tattoo artist working at Konoha Tattoo in Madrid, and Quartier Club in Malaga, both in Spain.
Some More Pokemon In 8 Bit
Yes, I do love 8 bit art, as I told you just some Pokemon ago, isn’t it?
The first Pokemon design in 8 bits was about gray tones, and here you can see how it combines the bold black pixels with some colorful ones.
And I think it is just perfect.
The tattoo is done by Zzang.ga Tattoo, a pixel art tattoo studio based in Seoul, South Korea.
Squirtle Tattoo With a Nice Special Style
I don’t know how to define this tattoo style, because it’s like when an impression test is a failure, but the result is terrific.
I do love these thick bold lines and the solid colors.
The tattoo is done by Alexander Damian, a fantastic tattoo artist with this particular style working in Budapest (Hungry) and Viena (Austria).
Pikachu Eating Watermelon Tattoo
Lovely, isn’t it?
This is another Pikachu tattoo, this time with a very special style, a perfect linework and astonishing colors, very bright, solid and awesome.
We do love the design, cute and bold, the nice size and the placement, right in the calf.

Pikachu drawing a… Pikachu!
Another Pikachu tattoo, and another piece of work.
This time is a Pikachu drawing itself, really, really cute.
I do like the crayon effect in the drawing, the blue and the yellow color and, of course, it is always a good thing to get ink with a cute Pokemon.

Togepi Pokemon Tattoo
Togepi is one of the cutest Pokemons in all the saga, happy and spreading happiness all around the world.
This tattoo is Togepi with a custom design in the egg part and, as well as in other Pokemon tattoos, we do like the thick linework and the colors, and, of course, the custom design, very ornamented, with these pink flowers.
The tattoo is done by Felipe Kross, a terrific tattoo artist from Sao Paulo (Brazil) focused in neo-oriental tattoos.
Snorlax Sumo Pokemon Tattoo
A really funny thing about Pokemon is that you can customize them with a lot of stuff.
And this is a nice example, Snorlax, the big, strong and sleepy bear customized as a tattooed sumo fighter, just fantastic!
The tattoo is done by Ray, owner of Ink’n’Ray Tattoo, in Dordrecht, The Netherlands.
Ray is focused on anime/manga tattoos, and his tattoos are great!
Charmander In Children Drawing
Well, well, well, here you can see another completely different thing.
This tattoo is done by Meerie, she is 100% focused on doing tattoos with child designs for adults, and I think the idea is terrific, I do love it.
This example is a Charmander tattoo, but you can see a lot of different examples in her Instagram account.

Tyranitar Evolution Tattoos
This is another nice one!
You can see here the complete evolution to reach Tyranitar, in Japanese the first two pokemon are called Sanagiras and Yogiras, and the name was Pupitar and Larvitar.
We do love the design, one more time, with thick bold black lines perfectly done, a lot of shadowing and dotwork.
The tattoo is done by Shana Taboone, a great woman tattoo artist based at Den Haag, in The Netherlands, and I can say she has a special personal brand with these thick lines and this shadowing I do love.
Magikarp and Gyarados Tattoo
Now, let’s go to another large tattoo like this one, where you can see another Pokemon evolution.
This time, in the forearm you can see some Magikarp, one of the weakest Pokemon in the first generation, and the evolution, Gyarados, something like a huge water dragon.
This is because of a Japanese Tale (The Carp Jumps Into The Dragon Door), a tale about a weak carp going up a river with perseverance, then it transforms into a dragon.

Cyndaquil and Thyplosion Tattoo
Yes, another nice Pokemon evolution, this time, colorful, cute and sweet.
The little one is Cyndaquil (something like an echidna) and the big one is Thyplosion (something like a weasel), but from the fire section, as you can see.

Pikachu and It, mixed up
Yes, this tattoo you can see just up these lines is a brilliant mix up between Pikachu and It, the film based on a Stephen King book, and I think it’s fantastic.
I do like the way the tattoo is done, the bright colors and the linework, moreover, Pikachu is so cute…
This tattoo is done by M Iván Flores, a great tattoo artist focused on Anime Tattoo Style working from Mexico you need to know about, now.
Realistic Charmander Pokemon Tattoo
Another Charmander tattoo, but, one more time, completely different to the others.
This time, you can see a Charmander tattoo made in anime style but very, very realistic.
The 3D effect is remarkable and I do love the costumbre (I`m not going to lie).
This tattoo is done by Danny Elliot, owner of Flow State Gallery, in Denver, Colorado.
Happy Eevee Tattoo
Well, this is another one of the happy Pokemon ones.
This Pokemon is called Eevee because it has 8 possible evolutions (the largest number of all Pokemon saga) and, as you can see, it seems very happy here!
This tattoo is done by Ale Rivera, working at Stattoos Club Lindora, in Costa Rica, and I do love the design and the linework, fantastic job there!
